World Bank Youth Innovation Challenge 2024


  • The World Bank Youth Innovation Challenge is a competition seeking solutions to water-related challenges in a changing climate.
  • It aims to accelerate youth innovation and unlock the potential of “aquapreneurs” worldwide.
  • Participants will:
    • Build entrepreneurial skills in business plan development, prototyping, marketing, fundraising, and more.
    • Be invited to a virtual bootcamp and attend regional forums.
    • Compete for the chance to win funding and support for their water solutions.


  • Open to individuals or teams aged 18-35 from World Bank member countries.
  • Participants must submit innovative solutions addressing water challenges in any of the following six themes:
    • Climate Change Resilience
    • Water Scarcity and Security
    • Sanitation and Hygiene
    • Integrated Water Resource Management
    • Water for Food Security and Livelihoods
    • Innovative Financing for Water


  • Awards: Up to US$25,000 in funding for winning solutions.
  • Support: Access to mentorship, technical assistance, and business development resources.
  • Recognition: Opportunity to showcase your project on a global platform and network with water sector leaders.


  • Application deadline: February 16, 2024.
  • Virtual Bootcamp: March-April 2024.
  • Regional Forums: May-June 2024.
  • Grand Finale: July 2024.
